Become a Peer Support Navigator

CONTENT SPONSORED BY

Interested in helping others in the ichthyosis community?

Many people affected by ichthyosis find meaning in sharing their experiences and helping others feel less alone. As a peer support navigator, you can provide practical support and hope to others. A chief goal of the Peer Support Navigator Program is to help connect with patients and families as soon as possible, so they better know what to expect, what questions to ask and generally feel more supported.

Who Makes a Good Peer Support Navigator?

FIRST welcomes applications from individuals and caregivers/parents who:

  • Have personal experience with ichthyosis or a related condition
  • Demonstrate empathy, compassion and strong listening skills
  • Are comfortable sharing their experiences appropriately
  • Understand the role and responsibilities, including maintaining appropriate boundaries and not providing medical advice or counseling
  • Want to support others and help strengthen the community

Peer Support Navigators receive training and ongoing support from FIRST.
