Deadline Approaching for Skin Care Grants this Winter

Have you ever wanted to try a new lotion or cream to see if it works better than what you are currently using? Do you hesitate because you don’t want to waste the little extra money you have on something that may not work?
FIRST has your answer. It’s called the Jane & Henry Bukaty Skin Care Fund. The program has provided funding to 73 members and is going strong! The deadline for the next grant cycle is January 31, 2013 so we encourage you to apply.
About 13 years ago, a wonderfully generous family, the Eastin’s from California, overheard a mother at a family conference talking about how she wanted to try a new product for her child. This mother was concerned about spending her money in case the product didn’t work. She was spending a lot on various creams already and didn’t want to take what little extra she had leftover and take a chance on something new. So the Eastin’s decided that they wanted to help this family and others who were in similar situations and they donated seed money to start a permanent fund at FIRST. The fund provides a “little extra” for families to purchase current or new skin care products. The fund was named in honor of Jane & Henry Bukaty, loving grandparents to the three Eastin children affected with ichthyosis.

It’s easy to apply. Click here for more information and the application. Funding occurs, twice a year, so be sure to apply either by January 31 or July 31 with your application.
Here’s your opportunity to purchase something new without breaking the bank. Others have used the fund to purchase soap, over-the-counter lotions, shampoos, cooling products, sun-protective clothing, eye drops, tools to clean out ears, just to name a few. It’s amazing what a difference a few extra bucks can make! Maybe you will find a new product or two that work better than what you are currently using.
