Ichthyosis Awareness Month

May is now Ichthyosis Awareness Month (IAM). During this month, we encourage our families and friends to raise awareness about ichthyosis and to host grassroots events to raise money for research and to help affected individuals. IAM replaces Ichthyosis Awareness Week (IAW), which had been held in October, but often was lost among the many events and holidays in the fall; in addition, during FIRST's early years IAW was held in May.  We have returned to our tradition and to expand the celebration for an entire month. Therefore, we now celebrate Ichthyosis Awareness Month in May.

Educating your local community is very important as it can make day-to-day life much easier for those affected.  One of the easiest ways to spread the word in your community is to do an interview for your local newspaper and share your personal story.

Together, we can make a difference...
